Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), a member of the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science, and Community Development (QF), was founded in 2010 to continue fulfilling QF’s vision of unlocking human potential. HBKU is a homegrown research and graduate studies University that acts as a catalyst for positive transformation in Qatar and the region while having a global impact.

Research is integral to Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s mission to help build human capacity in Qatar. It thrives across its six colleges and three national research institutes to advance science and technology across various disciplines and to find solutions for many local, and global challenges.

The Hamad Bin Khalifa University Institutional Biosafety Committee (HBKU-IBC) is constituted to develop and implement institutional biosafety policies and codes of practice. The IBC has the responsibility to ensure that all biomedical research activities involving hazardous materials that may have the capacity to produce adverse effects on human beings, animals, or the environment are conducted in a safe manner and line with applicable regulations.
